ywie Awards Show

It’s that time of year again!  Young Women in Excellence, a time where all the 12-18 year old girls from our church share what amazing projects/goals they’ve been working on all year long.  Last year’s was a blast, I love the YWiE vintage theme that the Laurels (16-18 year old girls) came up with.  I was in charge of this year’s theme and our president suggested an award show theme.  My amazing adviser, Kristen, thought up the colors black, white & gold and we went from there.  Here is the full layout, leave any questions in the comments section so we can address it all at once, hopefully the pictures speak for themselves.  Keep in mind it was dark in the church gym so my apologies that they’re not as bright as I’d like them to be (;

Basically, the program was the girls coming up and receiving their award and saying what project they worked on. So it was an easy, stress free YWIE! We had the Laurel president conduct. After the intro (talking about how if you follow your path, you’ll have a bright future & honor in the next life-read the shoe printable for elaboration), we had a different woman introduce each value with a quick thought. So our YW president introduced “Faith” with a couple thoughts of her own. Then she called up each girl who had worked on their “Faith” value for their project.  Then we had the old YW president introduce “Divine Nature” with some thoughts & called up the girls in that category and so on.  When the girl was called, she walked the red carpet, did a cute curtsy/strike a pose, the said a fast “Thank you to my mom for helping me,” etc.  It was a really laid back program from a leader point-of-view since the girls work was the main theme.  It was fun to hear them talk about their individual projects.  We had all the YW sing “Stand in Holy Places”, had a bishopric member share a thought then had the closing prayer. Easy easy!

Big thanks to my adviser, Kristen, for working so hard on the program and figuring all the many details.  Love that lady mucho!  Gotta love her high school dress and my amazing find on our girls trip to Vegas!!  Another thanks to her sister, Kim Johnson, for her hard work on the invites & programs!

  1. Are you in UTAH? Any chance you want to loan/rent out your Moroni? or if you have a pattern? That is awesome! We are doing the amazing race and we are using moroni rather than nomes. 😉

  6. I too am interested in your awards printable!! You mentioned in the comments that you would update the post with a link for this. I don’t know if I am blind but I didn’t see it. Also, could you go into more detail about the presentation of the awards and how that part of the program went? I am interested in knowing how you tied the theme “the highest place of honor” into the evening. Also was the song a jenny Phillips song? All of it is so lovely we may just have to use your ideas for our ywie night. Thank you so much for sharing!

    1. Email me the details of how you tied in the theme with the awards and the whole night too! It looks like your night was a big success!

      Thanks for sharing!

      Amy :]

  7. Is the backdrop a painting on cardboard? I love it. Would love to know details
    Also, the red plastic on the floor?

    1. Yes, red plastic tablecloths (dollar store!) on the floor for the “carpet” and the backdrop is actually cardboard duct taped together then covered gift with wrap from Hobby Lobby. 🙂

        1. Hey Lynn! Darn it, wish HL sold that cardboard temple. Kelli drew it all out! Lots of work but way cute! 😉

    1. Thanks Kristen! Lots of work but the YW love it, as you will see next week! Have fun at yours! xo

  8. Um, hi – AWESOME! What I wouldn’t give for a printable of the awards (hint, hint!)
