We are excited to share the tutorial for our Pallet State Love projectin collaboration with our talented team of crafters at The Creative Carousel, {more on that in a bit!}
But first, the tut!
Everything was on hand either lying around in the garage or from our craft stash… no outta pocket cost.
In case you missed our pallet EAT sign tut 2 years ago {and haven’t seen our bff Katie @ Sweet Rose Studio’s gorgeous pallet love most recently}, read on for the DIY on creating your own.
Let’s get started, shall we?
1. Lay 4-2×4’s (approx. 14″ long each) flat on the ground.
2. Grab 2 extra scrap pieces of wood (just long enough to nail onto,) a hammer and a handful (10-12) of nails.
3. Hammer away until the newly created pallet is sturdy. Easy peasy!
Now to paint:
1. Acrylic paints & foam brush. 2. Brown base coat. 3. Gray top coat. 4. Cut vinyl lettering out, (I designed mine with our vinyl cutter,) and place on pallet where desired. I used the fonts “Cursif” for “home and hearts” and Champagne & Limousines for the other. 5. Lightly brush on paint, (I used 3 colors: state- white, heart- pink and quote- robin egg blue.) 6. Lightly sand if you like the shabby look… I personally love how the brown base coat pulled through.
I found you from Positively Splendid's party. I l.o.v.e this project! We moved from Missouri last year and miss it dearly. This would be a great thing in our home to remind us of our home there! – sara @ http://www.applestonedrive.blogspot.com
That is adorable. We'll have to have a "state off" when I post my CA project (it is different but state related). Anyway – super cute (and I love that EAT sign too)
So cute! I love what you have decided to do with vinyl lettering!! I can't wait to see how crafty I can be with it. I think I might put it on the windows of my car…what do you think? Good? Tacky? Bad?
Hey Ladies! Too funny. You are the very first link party I attended (and totally messed up the link …) and now here you are at my "impossibilities" link party!
Hey, I’d love to see these pics, but they are not showing up???
All fixed, Vanessa 🙂
LOVE this. I’m definitely planning on recreating this with California. 🙂
Any chance you can provide the fonts you used for the lettering?? I love it!
Thanks 🙂
Thanks Miranda! We used “Cursif” font for the script and “Champagne & Limousines” for the other. 😉
Adorable! I’m an AZ girl too, I absolutely love this. Where/how did you get your AZ template??
Hey Cassie! Go Arizonans! 😉
I used the font “Scrappy States” for the state of AZ and added a heart image on top of it. Turned out cute!
I like what you guys are up too. Such clever work and coverage!
Keep up the very good works guys I’ve added you guys to blogroll.
This is so fun! I would love to feature this on Reduce, Reuse, Upcycle. Feel free to stop by and grab a featured button.
