DIY button ornaments
We have a fun and easy tutorial for you today, courtesy of Blick Art Materials. They challenged us to re-create their popular diy button ornaments. We thought it would be cute to create a design in them so we came up with matching Christmas trees. My 7 year old son helped me make these. He was afraid of the glue gun but we had fun chatting while he handed me button after button. He was excited picking out his favorite styles in the big bag of assorted buttons. This is a fairly quick craft (I would definitely recommend having your piles ready to just grab from) that kids can do (old enough to use a glue gun wisely) with no mess to clean up.
Supplies needed:
- Button Assortment pack
- Glue Gun + Sticks
- Ribbon for hanging
- Styrofoam circle shapes
Directions:
- Make tree shape first on ornament by gluing colored buttons in place.
- Leave a button off at the top of the ornament to hang for later.
- Surround with white buttons to fill in the rest of the space.
- Glue 8″ ribbon loop onto foam, press button on top of ribbon to finish it off.
- Hang and enjoy!
Would you craft the green or red?
