diy wood memory match game
Hello Lolly Jane readers Jaime here from That’s My Letter to share a simple scrap wood memory match game.
I have a serious problem with scrap wood and I absolutely love to make all kinds of projects and games using up scraps. This is such a fun project and even one the kids can help make by painting the pieces. Then once everything is dry it’s a basic game all kids love to play and it’s portable too!
This memory match game is all by color so it’s great for any age, even the little ones can try. If you don’t have scrap wood lying around you could even use precut pieces from the craft store and your favorite acrylic paints.
Supplies:
- 2×2 scrap wood cut into 1/2″ sections (or precut pieces from the craft store)
- sandpaper
- acrylic paints (12 colors)
- paint brush
- clear semi-gloss spray polyurethane
Step 1: Cut the 2×2 scrap wood into 1/2″ sections. Use sandpaper to smooth any rough edges.
Step 2: Use any acrylic craft paint (12 colors) to paint just the top surface of each square. One color per two squares to create a matching set.
Step 3: Sand off any excess paint from the edges and seal the paint with clear semi-gloss spray poly.
I choose to make a simple drawstring bag using drop cloth and jute string to hold all the pieces and make this game portable. Everyone loves games that come with storage! Hope you enjoyed this fast and easy memory match game idea using scrap wood.
