DIY Mercury Glass Ornaments

Making these ornaments is a cinch! There are a handful of quick steps but once you get the hang of it, it goes quickly! I was able to transform a 25-pack of these boring clear ornaments in the same amount of time my Hallmark Christmas movie was playing. In addition, it’s worth the effort because they look SO REAL and are stunning!

  1. Remove ornament top and spray Looking Glass twice into the ornament opening.
  2. Follow with 2 sprays of the vinegar solution.
  3. Use a hair dryer to dry while turning ornament over until solution is dry. Note: tap out excess solution onto a paper towel as needed.
  4. Next, spray gold metallic spray paint twice into the ornament opening.
  5. Follow with 2 sprays of the vinegar solution.
  6. Use a hair dryer to dry while turning ornament over until solution is dry.
  7. Lastly, add dark copper spray paint: spray twice into the ornament opening.
  8. Follow with 2 sprays of the vinegar solution.
  9. Use a hair dryer to dry while turning ornament over until solution is dry.
  10. Finally, spray the ornament top with any of the metallic spray paints or brush some Rub N Buff on. Let dry then reattach top to ornament. Note: Mixed metals is a classic look, leave some of the silver tops as-is and use the metallic spray paints for different finishes.

Lastly, attach a ribbon (we love the look of velvet) through the hook and hang to display.
