Teen Girl Boho Bedroom

Create a dreamy boho-themed bedroom for your girl using thrifted furniture, neutral bedding, and butterfly wallpaper. Personalize the space with a DIY shelf for decor and add eclectic charm with pom pom-adorned throw pillows. 🦋✨

I’m finally sharing my teen daughter’s boho bedroom and loved how it turned out! Boho is all about relaxation and individuality, making it a perfect choice for creating a serene sanctuary for your teen’s space. The decor is often funky and eclectic which is perfect for teen girls who want to express their personality.

We finished her room back in 2021 but realized we never fully shared the full space and sources. It’s been making its way around Pinterest so lots of new faces are just seeing it.

Here are some easy styling tips to help you achieve the perfect boho-inspired bedroom for your own teen daughter. Leave any questions in the comment section below 🙂

Tips to Create a Boho Theme Bedroom

Add Depth

Layering textures adds depth and coziness to your bedroom. Think soft throws, plush rugs and cushions and pillows in various fabrics such as cotton, linen, and wool. These tactile elements invite relaxation and create a soothing atmosphere.

Use an Earthy Color Palette

Embrace earthy tones to evoke a sense of calm and connection to nature. Consider hues like muted greens, warm browns, soft oranges, and earthy neutrals for your walls, bedding, and decor accents. These colors will infuse your space with tranquility and timeless elegance.

Consider Thrifted Finds

Add thrift store finds or vintage pieces to infuse your bedroom with character and charm. The nightstand is from my grandma so I love that my daughter now has her great-grandma’s nightstand in her own room.

Look for unique furniture finds at thrift stores or flea markets, such as a distressed wooden dresser, a vintage-inspired vanity or a retro accent chair. These timeless treasures add personality and history to your space.

Add Accent Pieces

Incorporate boho inspired accents to enhance the eclectic vibe of your bedroom. Hang a macrame swing or tapestry as a focal point, and adorn your space with woven baskets, rattan decor, and decorative pillows featuring geometric patterns or botanical motifs. These subtle touches infuse your room with boho flair without overwhelming the space.

DIY Shelf

We added this simple 3″ wood shelf to the wall as a divider so our daughter can add all her trinkets in an organized way. We used pocket holes to drill in from the bottom so the top is seamless.

Then we added this gorgeous neutral boho butterfly peel and stick wallpaper to the top half to warm it up. We love how it turned out! She still loves the black chalkboard painted wall so her friends can doodle when they come over.

Create Personal Spaces

Create cozy nooks where you can unwind and recharge. Arrange a reading corner with a comfortable chair or floor cushions, a soft throw and a side table for your favorite books. Enhance the ambiance with string lights or lanterns for a touch of warmth and intimacy.

Custom Decor

Showcase your personality through personalized decor and artwork. Whether it’s a gallery wall of fun memories or handmade crafts, these personal touches add a unique touch to your room. My daughter specifically picked the wallpaper and loves that it reflects her personality.

We loved doing the projects in this room alongside our daughter to spend time together.

I built this closet 8 years ago for my oldest who is married with 2 kiddos herself now. It’s wild how fast time flies but we keep repurposing as we go to adapt.

We hope you’ve been inspired to paint, wallpaper, thrift and/or organize! We did all of these things in this space and adore how it turned out!
