mason jar vases

We’re back with our talented group of 10 blogger besties to share June’s themed hop.  This month is MASON JARS so we’re showing off our easy mason jar vases.  They’re dang simple to make and you probably have everything on hand!  If you’re regular readers, you know we’re total cheapskates and huge into upcycling!  We dug these mason jars out of the attic that our mom had put in there more than 30 years ago, aww!  Read more about that on our herringbone stencil bookcase post!

Last month’s hop theme was citrus where we shared a fun chevron wreath, so many cute ideas! Pin this collage and be sure you come back on the 10th each month!  Check out all the mason jar goodness, ahhh! Love it!

These mason jar vases are perfect for summer!  We have orange trees in our yard and although they’re not quite in season, they’re perfect for decor (;  We filled them with pretty flowers and have instant centerpieces.
1. Supplies: Mason jars, Burlap, Scrap ribbon, Scissors, Hot Glue
2. Cut burlap into 3 wide strips, {roughly 4″ for the large mason jar, 3″ for the smaller one.}
3. Wrap burlap around mason jar, securing with a dab of hot glue.  Tie orange ribbon around burlap.
4. Slice oranges and drop into bottom of jars.
Now that the mason jars are blinged out, simply add a few inches of water and fill with pretty flowers.
These jars would be so pretty in any hue… red ribbon with strawberry slices, blue ribbon with blueberries, yellow ribbon with lemon slices, etc.  They would make great centerpieces for a baby or bridal shower, too, don’t you think?  For now, though, we are simply enjoying the pop of color added to Kelli’s porch.
