Have you heard of a capsule wardrobe? Well, our home decor is similar to that… we have some base items then build up and fill in from there, depending on the time of year. Since it’s sunny and hot hot hot in Arizona, we’ve got pops of yellow to match the sunshine! Besides my cheery doors, I’ve pulled yellow/mustard throws to put over a neutral piece of furniture like my patio bench or bed swing. I simply layered some bright, seasonal pillows on top of that and bam: done. If this was fall, winter, or spring… you would simply pull oranges, blues, or pinks instead of yellow 😉

Simple Summer Porch FURNITURE IDEAS

My stained farmhouse table with metal chairs is a great staple piece that can be used year round but I topped mine with a dough bowl + faux florals for the summertime. A bed swing or standard swing take up real estate space and allow for less spaces to decorate with… just top with accessories!

I like to come outside at night under my string lights and read since that’s the only time of day (er, night) it’s cool here in Arizona. Keeping a book out that’s stylish counts as decor, right? (Thanks Chip and Jo, haha)

I was toying of the idea of hanging plants and an oversized monogram I scored at a yard sale but went for simple touches of evergreen decor and settled on a window pane topped with a boxwood wreath instead. Oh and here’s a little peek at my double door twin from summers past… I miss my yellow doors out front now! LOL
