We love that we can open the app, grab necessities with a few clicks then it arrives directly to our door. Because we’re constantly receiving packages as we order everything from electronics to shoes to Hannah’s dog shedding tool, we were excited to try the new Key by Amazon service.

Here’s what we thought of it and why we think you’ll like it, too!

I tend to keep my phone in hand these days so it’s really convenient to monitor my garage digitally.

Is Key by Amazon for you?

If you answer no to any of the following questions, you’ll love this new program:

• Do you have time to sit and wait for important packages?
• Do you want packages that are soggy from the rain or ruined by the heat?
• Do you want missing packages while sitting unattended?

Not only are you saving time and guaranteeing your packages will be in good condition, you’ll have the assurance that packages are secure and not sitting on the front doorstep all day.

Bonus: if you’re traveling, this program is ideal for receiving packages! No more calling your neighbors to be your eyes and ears: you can see and hear from your own device!

ORDERING AND INSTALLATION

To set up your home with Key for Garage, you’ll need the Chamberlain myQ Smart Garage Hib and the optional Amazon Cloud Cam. Be sure the service is available in your area before you order.

Installing the myQ device is a three-part process:

1: First up, be sure you have Wi-Fi access to your garage. To install the Wi-Fi Hub:

• Install the hub next to your garage door opener: screw the bracket into the ceiling (no stud required) then slide the hub inside and plug it in to an outlet.

2: To install the door sensor, the sensor needs to be mounted to the top panel, facing upward.

• Wipe down your inside garage door panel, apply fastening strips to the panel then press down firmly.

3: Download the myQ App, connect to Bluetooth on your phone then visit SETUP.MYDEVICE.COM on your web browser to finish the setup process.

So easy.

Installing the Cloud Cam

We set up the Amazon Cloud Cam ourselves.

• Screw the Cloud Cam holder into the wall or ceiling, facing upward.
• Plug it into your garage outlet.

It’s got a clear view of the entire garage to watch when packages are delivered. You can watch live view anytime, too.

Linking the myQ app with the Key by Amazon app

When your Cloud Cam picks up any activity, you’ll receive a notification, allowing you to keep tabs on your house no matter where you are.

The motion detection feature captures activity immediately.

You can also customize sensitivity on the app so it’s not notifying you unnecessarily, like if a bug flies across the cam for example.

I love having the Amazon Cloud Cam monitor around the clock for peace of mind.

I can always watch the live view which is handy in cases like today: I was home alone and heard a bang outside. I immediately looked toward the garage and instead of opening the door to check, I opened the app and saw it was all clear.

My neighbor was the one making noise next door, no worries, but it sure was nice to check it out from the safety of my couch or while we’re away enjoying a treat with the kids!

Our favorite features are that our packages won’t go missing, we can double check that our garage is closed at night from the comfort of our bed and we have 24/7 access to the garage cam with the click of our app. Bam.
