Reindeer charcuterie board

You don’t have to have a reindeer shape charcuterie board to present it as a reindeer! You can use a rectangle, round or square board and simply cut out antlers in brown construction paper to attach to the top. We’ve found a handful of fun and festive holiday options for you either way! I found the one pictured here, in-store only at this point in the season. 🦌

Items for a holiday platter

As a busy mom, gathering items for a holiday platter from only one grocery store is my jam. My 2 favorites are Trader Joe’s and Winco because they typically offer a larger variety of fun and festive goodies like gingerbread men cookies, Santa shaped cinnamon candy or yogurt covered pretzels in Christmas colors or red + green tortilla chips.

For this particular board, I went an extra step and cut a piece of red construction paper into a circle shape and fit it over the dip lid to appear like Rudolph’s red nose. 🔴 This extra step is an especially fun presentation for a holiday gathering where kids are present!

How to Style a Charcuterie Board

Styling a charcuterie board is, in my opinion, a treat in and of itself! It’s a fun challenge to fit everything in just right and layer by sweet and savory.

Here’s what works for me:

  • Prep: Slice, unwrap or peel items before starting to layer to prevent browning or drying out.
  • Start with your biggest items.
    • Lay out the dip, for example, before the smaller items like grapes.
  • Next, fill in according to sweet and savory.
    • Pair fruits with cheeses and crackers and candies together.
    • Mix them together as well to add more visual interest.
  • Lastly, garnish with pine sprigs or other festive accents to pull the seasonal look together!

Holiday Charcuterie Board

If the previous style is too playful then I reworked the same items to create a more classic style holiday charcuterie board but still festive styled on a reindeer board. Without the dip taking up a bulk of the space I was able to squeeze in even more goodies perfect for Christmastime!

You would be surprised at how much you can fit onto one board when layering. It’s kind of like Tetris getting them to lay out just so, haha!

  1. Oh my gosh. How stinkin’ cute is this? My kids would absolutely love this…and so would my young nieces and nephews. I’m going to share this with my mom and suggest we make it during our family Christmas party.
