Picture gallery wall

I just love love love our readers!  THANK YOU so much for your sweet input on my SOS post yesterday asking for tips on what to fill my delivery hospital bag with.  I loved reading your replies and am just about packed up.  Muah!  So excited to share my latest picture gallery wall with you all now, yay for nesting!

After the reveal of the DIY stenciled curtains post, we received some e-mails asking about my picture gallery wall.  Ask and ye shall receive! 😉  Here it is all finished up:

To create my gallery wall, I started with an old Ikea frame, {which was originally cream,} and framed a family picture that was printed on foam board.  The frame was painted brownish-black and then finally green… sometimes I just don’t know how the project will end up! lol

From there, I just gathering this frame ‘n that frame from my storage closet until I had enough pieces to fill the space and continued painting them.
I love this wooden letter “J” that I received my cute sis-in-law Cat awhile ago and finally painted it, {the same robin egg blue as in the curtains//Krylon blue ocean breeze (spray paint) or Craft Smart ocean breeze (acrylic paint} and brushed some black paint around the edges:
I had 3 funky frames in my stash and knew they would be a fun element to add to the collage so I slathered them in leftover brown paint from my recent distressed crib post:

NOTE: As with most of my projects, I was putting this together during naptime and couldn’t run to the store but wanted to hang the pictures before my little guy awoke so I popped a few tabs from canned soup and used them as picture hangers.  See the full tutorial/pop tab trick here 😉

I saw this personalized art date print from cute Rachel @ Holy Craft and immediately knew what to put in last empty frame.  I whipped this printable up in Photoshop and am loving the simple {free} touch that added some personality into the space:

Yes, baby #2 is due in just a few short weeks and we will be updating this 😉
After everything was dry & framed, I laid out how I wanted the to gallery to look:

Now to hang it!
I hung the biggest piece first, my now-green framed foam board {picture taken when my son was a newborn by my sweet friend Tara Bowman} then hung the date art, my blue J and finally the funky frames {our family picture in the top funky frame was taken by the talented Marry Jordan}, leveling as I went:

Pretty happy with how it turned out!

And you know what, I am always amazed at how the pretty pops of color can brighten my mood when I walk into this space 🙂

If you have any questions, just holler!  There are some cute examples on our Pinterest wall/gallery board if you need more inspiration.
