door & SHUTTER PAINT

Can you believe I only used 1/2 of this bottle to paint both doors? Most of the doors only required one coat, busy mom win! This formula is specifically made for doors and shutters so the usual prep (sanding and/or priming) is omitted, which is a win-win for fellow lazy painters who also dread prep work! 😉 The ONLY prep I did to paint my front doors was wipe them down and tape off the little windows inside but if you have 30 extra minutes then we highly recommend liquid masking tape, it’s a game changer!

How to Paint Front Doors

We took a poll on Instagram to see if we should keep the doors two different colors…haha! Only one of you voted YES 😉 Anyway, paint these doors was a cinch and I let the paint do all of the work for me! No, I didn’t take them off the hinges, no I didn’t spray them, yes, I simply painted with a small hand brush.

  1. Prep the doors by washing them with warm soapy water and let dry completely.
  2. Tape off around door handles and/or windows.
  3. Using an angled brush, paint any crevices first.
  4. Then, roll over other flat areas of the door with a paint roller.
  5. Add second coat if needed.
  6. If your door is exposed to the elements, be sure to seal with a clear polyurethane!
  7. Let dry completely and enjoy!
