Washi tape love letter

Holy moly it’s been forevah since I’ve sat down and got my scrapbooking…er, die cutting, on!  When I spied the new Shape N Tape from Lifestyle Crafts, I knew right away what I wanted to create with them, a washi tape love letter:

I am lovin’ these big ol sheets of washi tape- how brilliant is that?!  No more piecing together skinny strips of washi tape to create something pretty!  I used the orange and gray 6×12 sheets, paired with the Tape It Kit Dies to decorate my little love letter and am loving how untraditional the colors are for Valentine’s Day but still work.

To make my letter, I upcycled a white paper sack.  Wanna see how I did it?

1. Cut the bottom of the sack off.  2.  There will be a natural crease from where the bag folds so I simply kept the crease as is and folded it over.  3.  You can see once it is folded it looks like an envelope already but the “flap” of the now envelope is a bit long.  I just folded that over, too.  4.  I was going to washi tape the sides shut but since this will be mailed, I wanted it extra-secure so I stitched it in orange thread to match the orange Shape N Tape sheets.  I just sewed the ends closed on each side.  5.  After sewing, I trimmed the sides so they were even-ish.  6.  Viola!  Envelope created about 5 minutes flat.  Sweet!

Now this white envelope ready to decorate with washi tape!

7. I laid out my dies to see where I wanted to put my tape.  8.  I cut pieces of the orange & gray sheets according to the die sizes.  9.  My favorite part: running them through my Epic 6 letterpress.  Fun!  10.  Pieces all ready to play with- just had to remove the backing and decorate.

All ready to address and mail!

Since washi tape is pretty thin, instead of removing the sticky back on the solid orange heart and striped circle in the corner, I used a few dabs of hot glue to give it some extra dimension.  Don’t worry, I was able to stamp my return address on the back ;)

FINAL3

I cut a handful of extra hearts because the patterns are too cute not to, right?!  I am serisouly lovin’ this set!  I tossed the hearts in the envelope with an adorable necklace I had custom made as my sons grandma’s Valentine gift to her.  It coordinates perfectly with the Shape N Tapes, huh.  Love!
