simple pinwheel bunting

Quick + simple pinwheel bunting. |

We busted out a simple pinwheel bunting with few items on hand.  In fact, we only had to purchase the pinwheels since we had everything else.  It's been a fun little way to greet guests at the door. Not only was this SUPER simple and quick to make, but it was cheap and you know we are all about inexpensive, knock-off decor! (; You will need just a handful of items to create this. Besides these cute mini pinwheels (Party City- $4 for 50 count) you'll need scrap bakers twine, mini clothespins and card stock, most of which you probably already have on hand. Love that! We simple removed the sticks from the pinwheels, cut banner shapes (freehand) from card … continue reading

DIY rolling garden cart

Pretty painted DIY rolling garden cart | via

Hello green thumbs!  If you're a big gardening fan, this tutorial is for you!  We're black thumbs but still appreciate a pretty piece of furniture, even if it's intended for the outdoors!  Kelli's had this cabinet since her family began over twelve years ago.  Our cute mom bought it for her and her new groom shortly after they married since their first apartment was tight on space.  Before painting furniture was trendy in 2008, she painted it green with acrylic paint one night when said groom was working late.  Yes, acrylic paint from a little bottle, lol!  She's kept it for the nostalgia and was happy to give it yet another face lift.  It'll probably … continue reading

Grilled steak and spinach quesadillas

Living in Arizona has some definite perks and one of them is that we are a border state to Mexico and have aaaahmazing Mexican markets here that carry yummy authentic, handmade tortillas. These, in our opinion, are way better than the regular 'ol tortillas carried at chain grocers because they have a salted, grilled flavor and can even be enjoyed plain! If you don't have access to these yummy markets you can make your plain tortillas taste with way with a few tricks, like we made with our Grilled Steak and Spinach Quesadillas: Our grandmother, a resident of Mexico until she attended college here in the US, made us the best green chili & cheese quesadillas every … continue reading

Grilled pork chops with pineapple mango salsa

Grilled Pork Chops with Pineapple-Mango Salsa (and brown sugar glaze.) YUM! |

Barbecue week continues and this next recipe is seriously mouth watering! The smell is amazing and the brown sugar glaze caramelizes while cooking so it tastes as good as it smells! You will love these grilled pork chops with pineapple mango salsa, promise.  Confession: We did not make the salsa from scratch! Gasp! I know. A) We're not really foodie bloggers but are enjoying cooking as of late B) Mangos are not in season here so it was easier to buy it freshly packed. C) It tastes as good as from scratch and we didn't have to do the work. ;) The marinade is all from scratch so you do have a bit of work to do, you know, if you like that sort of thing. (Okay but not much as our … continue reading
