National blogging day of silence

Good morning friends,

We’ve decided to take today off as a day of silence and remembrance as far as technology goes. We will not be blogging, tweeting or updating on Facebook but plan on spending our time with the littles while we remember and pray for those families who lost so much in the Sandy Hook, Connecticut school shooting.  It was a bittersweet birthday for us and we feel so blessed to have made it to our 31st while too many of those sweet children will not.

Our sweet friend Kristen shared a message of hope on her site today from a father of one of the young victims, Emilie Parker.  She says, “Her dad was the first parent to speak out, and I am so impressed with his faith and understanding of a higher law of agency. He expressed sadness for the family of the shooter, and comfort knowing his sweet Emilie was a ray of light in her time on earth. This man shares my faith, and I think he has a lot to teach others about a message of love, of hope. We can all use that hope. I don’t want to live in fear, I want to live with hope.”  There is a facebook page set up for Emilie and her memory here.

We, too, want to live with hope and have been comforted during this heartbreaking time in our understanding of what we believe.  A disciple of our church stated, in lieu of the Amish slaying in 2007, “All of us suffer some injuries from experiences that seem to have no rhyme or reason. We cannot understand or explain them. We may never know why some things happen in this life. The reason for some of our suffering is known only to the Lord. But because it happens, it must be endured. President Howard W. Hunter said that ‘God knows what we do not know and sees what we do not see.'”

We pray the families of those affected by this tragedy will feel the love and peace from our loving Father in Heaven during this time.  To learn more about what we believe as Latter-Day Saints, visit here.

We will see you tomorrow on our regularly scheduled program with a fresh Christmas decor tutorial.
