Link party features (and an announcement)

Happy Monday, guys!

We enjoyed a fun blog conference over the weekend {recap to follow!} where we picked up some great tips & tricks and hope to improve our site with what we’ve learned.  We have a lot to say about blogging but for now, to keep it short & simple, we’ve made the decision to stop hosting our Whatcha Got Weekend link parties.  We have been thinking about discontinuing them for some time but some insight we gained at the conference helped finalize that decision.  {Edited: You can read the reasoning HERE.} We want to sincerely THANK those of you who consistently linked your projects up with us over this past year.  We have LOVED seeing your creativity and appreciate you spending your time on our blog; it truly means a lot.

Just for fun, here are some features from our last {er, literally} whatcha got weekend link party:

Planter Watering Can by Design, Dining + Diapers

DIY Fireplace by In My Own Style . Yardstick Table by Creative Passage

Toddler tote by Cherished Bliss

Strawberry Pink Lemonade Cookies by Cherished Bliss . Shark Watermelon by Ramblings from Utopia

Framed vintage photos by Pressing On

Mint Oreo Chocolate Cupcakes by Sweet Rose Studio . Pizza Sandwich by Polish the Stars

While we’re on the subject of link parties, we want to remind you of proper link party etiquette.  We know new creative blogs are popping up every day so for you newbies, read this article comparing blog link parties to real life dinner parties.  It’s great!

You may not know that many hosts pay to run their party, (like us).  We were happy to spend that yearly fee because we understand link parties are a win-win for the host and the linkers: we gain traffic while you get to advertise your cute projects on our site for free.  From a personal point-of-view, leaving a quick “thank you” comment for your hostess goes a long way.  In fact, rumor has it sincere linkers are featured more… not that we would know anything about that.  But, just a tip! ;)

There are TONS of link parties out there and we encourage you to continue to participate in them.  Again, thanks BIG for linking up with these crazy Lolly twinners- we truly appreciate each one of you!

XOXO

Aww girls – I’ll miss your party!! But I completely understand! :)
Thanks for hosting them – and also for the link to the Crafterminds article. That was great. :)

I’ll miss your party too!! Would you mind shooting me a message if you have a minute and tell me what your reasoning was? Not a big deal if you don’t have an extra minute :)

We’ll miss your party, but I completely understand! I’ve been tossing around the idea of stopping by party as well, for various reasons, but do you mind sharing what they told you at the conference that served as the determining factor for you? As a blogger who hosts parties and has been unsure about continuing them myself, I would love to hear.

    Thanks so much- great features!

You guys are the cutest! I am so glad we got to hang out (and hug it out) a little bit more at EVO! YAY for conferences!

Also? I am so making those lemonade cookies. Possibly going to have them for dinner tonight! ;)

Thank you so much for featuring my photos in a window. I have loved your linky party and will miss it, but I really appreciate your honesty (shown in your most recent post, the good the bad and the ugly etc.). As a smaller blogger, it is really hard not to compare yourself with what’s out there and feel inadequate. It try hard to not just relate to my readers, but to be someone that they could see themselves being friends with. Being true to who you are and being content with that is so much a part of living this life well and with purpose. :)
