How to grow your blog using nRelate plugin

Hi guys!  We’ll often get emails or inquires about how to grow your blog and some ask for blogging tips.  We’re also asked how to monetize your blog. We don’t consider ourselves “big” by any means, let us preface that right now (; However, we have been blogging for 5 years so we’ve picked up a tip or 2 along the way.  Today we’ll talk about how to grow your blog using the nRelate plugin.

One of those tips is to get your content out there. Do you ever feel a little sad when your awesome post gets covered up by another awesome post?  All that work and is pushed to the back of your blog. nRelate has an easy plugin that lets your readers see other similar projects on your site, win-win right! It showcases relevant projects to what the reader is currently reading.  It’s also SEO friendly which is awesome because it DOESN’T redirect through nRelate’s site. And since we’ve installed it last month, it’s helped grow our pageviews because it’s offering more of your own relevant/similar posts.

Here is a screenshot of nRelate in action on our blog.  You’ll notice our post is from our State Art which was a love-related post (a gift to our newlywed sis).  nRelate shows Valentine projects from our past and also our address subway art with heart.  So if you’re searching for love related ideas, several will pop up.  Clever!

We were using a different site before nRelate and noticed some positive changes:

  • nRelate is easy to install, especially with WP…it does all the work for you!
  • There are multiple style options to help best blend with your blog (examples shown below).
  • Although we haven’t tied in ads with our content, we have the ability to do so and monetize our site a little bit more.
  • We noticed that a large amount of bloggers also use nRelate which makes us more confident we made the switch.

I just posted my review today as well… I love it too! I’m about to install it on my other blog and see what happens there.

Hope you’re having a great week!

Are you using nRelate Related Content or nRelate Most Popular or nRelate Flyout?

We use the Related Content one. That way, people reading that particular post will be other relevant posts. We do have a sidebar featuring “reader favorites” so didn’t want to be redundant.

Thanks so much for this tutorial! I had no clue how other bloggers were getting those related posts to show up!
