Turquoise Farmhouse Door

I just moved into a thirty year old house that’s chock full of character.  It’s worn and well loved inside and although some things are just gross (lol!) I do love it!  It’s actually the house Kristi and I was born in!  Our parents quickly outgrew it with the twin and I being kids #6 and 7 so they built a larger house next door and have rented this diamond in the rough out for over two decades.  Now it’s mine and I’m so darn excited to bring out her beauty!
I started with the farmhouse door leading to the garage.  It was a dark and dreary wood color that needed some wood putty and a fresh coat of paint!  Here’s what I did to brighten her up.
I had board and batten installed in the living room, painted above it a soft blue but wanted a bolder color for the original farmhouse door.
Deep apologies for the colors below.  How they looks so different I don’t know, I’ll assume different lighting throughout the project and iPhone quality…  I do love the frosted glass (from a can!) however, privacy since we leave our garage door up a lot during the day to allow the kids + friends to come on in whenever.

Here she is all finished.

I’m a big fan of making your house your home.  I love making a space feel like it’s yours.  There’s nothing better than to feel comfortable in your own home, and for me…white walls just aren’t warm and welcoming.  I love the soft blue on the walls and the fun pops of turquoise throughout.  It’s happy and joyful!
So many more before and afters coming your way!  It’s nice to be in our own home after living in my parent’s basement apartment for eighteen months.
COLORS:
Wall:   Sherwin-Williams “Swimming” SW 6764
Farmhouse door: Sherwin Williams “Mariner” SW 6766

  2. I love how it turned out! It took me a second before I realized what was on the windows… I never tape off windows when I paint and it drives my husband cr-a-zay! : )
