easy Valentines Day glitter sign

Today we’re making a easy Valentines Day glitter sign!  Do you remember the cute 25 sign I made in honor of Christmas?  As I was packing up my Christmas decor, I had a thought to put the 14 for Valentine’s Day on the back side.  A two for one sign.  I don’t decorate in between Christmas and Valentine’s Day, I know it’s a big gap but what goes in between??  AZ doesn’t really have a true winter so I omit winter decor and move right onto love day!  Hello cute bunting!

Here’s how you can make an easy Valentine’s Day glitter sign in a few quick steps!

  1. Gather supplies.
  2. I used Deco Art’s acrylic paints and their Glamour Dust to give it a shine!  Find them at any local craft store.
  3. Keep in mind for the pink, I combined two shades to give it the right hue.
  4. Paint your board white (I used a 16″ x 16″ MDF left over from this craft night)
  5. Mix your pinks and paint inside your stencil (email [email protected] to order one if you don’t have a cutter).
  6. While paint is wet, liberally sprinkle glamour dust onto your 14. Peel off the vinyl stencil and you’ve got some easy decor!

  1. I love this idea! I’m going to stencil 17 in green for St. Patrick’s Day. You might want to share this idea with our readers.

  2. Could you please post what shades of pinks, white and glamour dust you used?
    Thank you!

  3. I live in Utah where we have plenty of snow. Because of this I just decorated my mantle in a ‘Winter Frolic’ theme. I am loving this big ’14’ and will be making one! I am chomping at the bits to decorate for Valentines, but will wait a couple of weeks. I call my Winter décor my transitional décor. It holds me off till I can start pulling out the love. Don’t blame you for just going for it. Winter décor in AZ would seem out of place. Saw this on Pinterest and had to hop over. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Ok, maybe you ladies can help me…. I’m trying my hardest to paint a quote on a canvas using a similar technique to what you’re doing here. I even have a silhouette cameo and contact paper! But the paint is still leaking and making me insane… Any ideas or should I scrap it and use wood like you did here?

    1. Canvases are tricky. Seal it before you put the paint on it. Use ModPodge matte and lightly go over all the edges. It’ll create a seal and you can paint right over it!!

  5. Love this! I can’t wait to make one. Where did you find the cute white candle holders and the bird? So cute!

    1. The candle holders were from a garage sale. The white bird was from a grocery store, in the fresh flower area. Super random, right?? (:

  6. Absolutely AMAZING!!! I want a glitter sign too!!!!!
