Dulce de Leche Carmelitas

In honor of Cindo de Mayo (aiy yai yaiii!) we made dulce de lecha carmelita’s.
I got this muy delicioso recipe called Dulce de Leche Carmelitas from my blog friend Jessica and the dulce de leche was sent from mi amiga en Argentina (¡gracias Cintia!) and we just love everything about the combination 🙂  Mmmm.

Alright we’re quite aware carmie’s aren’t really a Mexican thang, but they totally sound like it 😉  Wanna make a batch for your little nino’s anyway?
Ingredients:
2 c. flour
2 c. quick oats
1 tsp. baking soda
1.5 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1.5 c. butter
2 c. jumbo choco chips
1 c. dulce de leche*
6 tbs. flour

*You can substitute with a caramel topping

Baking instructions:
1. Combine 2 c. flour, oats, brown sugar, soda, salt & butter.
2. Press half of crumb mixture into 9×13 pan.
3. Bake @ 350*F for 10 minutes.
4. Remove from oven, sprinkle w/ chips.
5. Combine dulce de leche & 6 tbl. flour, mix well.
6. Drizzle over chips.
7. Sprinkle remaining crumb mixture on top.
8. Bake another 15 minutes* or until golden brown
(*I baked mine a little less to make them a bit chewy.)
Tip: Chill for easy cutting.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!  Enjoy your Dulce de Leche Carmelitas!
¡Goce!*Linky luv*
