We’re loving the last few lazy days of summertime but we can only swim until noon before the water is warmer than the temperature outside- true story!
I had to think of a way to keep the kiddles entertained inside WITHOUT driving momma completely bonkers. Soooo……. this project {originally featured on 30 Days Handmade} is an recycled frame felt board that kept my littles busy for HOURS. Making their people out of felt took up time and let them get creative. Here’s how we made ours:
We scored this giant 3 foot frame {for FREE!} from a friend who was moving. I removed the back, spray adhesive’d it and covered it with gray felt {my only out-of-pocket cost} for a neutral background, then stapled gun’d it to the frame for security:
Seriously, that’s it. This process seriously took just a few minutes. The kids were working on their felt people using scrap pieces of felt and scissors. I love that my sons created “army guys” complete with swords. The youngest attempted a potato head girl- too cute! The birds and trees were easy; I just free handed everything on paper before hand and cut it out from that template.
Do your kiddo’s have a fav TV character? Encourage them to create them… Batman, Spongebob, Phineas+Ferb, etc. My girls chose the La La Loopsy’s because they are currently obsessed with those cute button-eye’d beauties:
This way was even easier:
I printed some Loopsy characters {from a Google search} on non-fancy regular white paper from my printer, cut them out, laminated them then cut around them again. To stick to the felt, I cut up velcro and glued it to the back of the newly laminated dolls cutouts. Easy peasy; cutting is your only time expense involved.
And just for fun, here’s a quick before/after:
I hope this turns out to be a good summer boredom buster for you and try to soak up those last few days or weeks of FUN mom-time before the kiddles are back in school fulltime

I have what may be a stupid question. Do you remove the glass or glue the felt to it??
lollyjane
Not stupid at all! Yes, remove the glass and spray glue the felt to the cardboard backing (:
