Be Kind quatrefoil sign

We’ve been getting a lot of questions/compliments on the Be Kind sign that was used as an accessory in our numbered cubby system

Since I made it as a reminder awhile ago for my kids to be nice to each other, I didn’t do a step-by-step, sorry!  BUT I do have a before/after AND detailed instructions AND a free stencil, yay!

Back in October, we participated in the Fraser Fields Swap which was SO FUN!  We hung out with StephKatie and got a load of new items to spruce up.

Here is the pile of randomness:

Do you spy the ‘paradise’ sign?  It was okay cute, could have been fun in a beach/coastal themed room.  But as I said, my 4 tykes under the age of 8 need constant reminding to BE KIND so I gave the sign an overhaul.

Directions:
  • Paint edges of sign black.  Paint inside blue.  {I used acrylic paint fyi}
  • Cut stencil {see below} on vinyl cutter & lay sticky side on frame.
  • Paint white over the top of the stencil.
  • When I went to peel it, it took a lot of the blue with it which showed the black paradise words.  Instead of freaking out/re-painting it, I lightly brushed even more white across the whole frame…gave it a pretty cool finish, I think!
  • I then cut ‘BE KIND’ in black vinyl & slapped it on when the new background was dry.
  • Easy!  Start to finish took about an hour & it was free as I had everything on hand.
 I didn’t actually use Tatertot’s stencil since I made this board 8 months ago & hers in newer…but I can’t remember which blog I got my stencil from so here ya go:
[also HERE in case you need it bigger]

Hopefully you too can make a sign to gently remind your kids to not kill each other BE KIND.
